TomTom put out a new car kit designed for all iPhone models. The car kit is a multifunction device that will charge your phone and functions as a Bluetooth speaker phone, in addition to mounting for in-car navigation. The new kit offers a number of improvements over the original. The new cradle now accomodates all iPhone models, where original was designed to work with the iPhone 3G/3GS, and then retrofitted with a spacer to work with the iPhone 4/4S. The new adjustable design also allows phones to mount with a case, which is a very nice addition. Also new is a detachable microphone that can be placed on a visor for improved audio. Also new the kit allows two separate phones to pair for voice calls. Missing this time around, however, it appears there is no GPS receiver. The original model had an GPS radio installed that could boost reception of the phone's built-in receiver and antenna. This designed allowed TomTom to sell a separate model for the iPod touch, which appears to still be on sale. The Hands-free Car Kit for iPhone is listed in the company's UK store for £79.99 or about $125. TomTom
