Along with the new Phone 5, iPod touch, and iPod nano announced Wednesday were new EarPods. Apple said it spent years developing the new earphones that will ship with the new iPhone and iPods. The iPod shuffle and less expensive iPod touch 4G still ship with the earbuds. In addition, the aging iPod classic too retains the old style earbuds. The new EarPods have on-cable volume and playback controls, plus microphone. Apple is marketing them as a premium product with premium sound and should offer a significant improvement over the old uncomfortable earbuds. In addition to bundling with new devices, Apple is also selling them for $29.
