The new, new iPad was a surprise announcement. Most people seemed to be expecting simply an updated iPad 3rd Gen with a Lightning connector, rather than an upgraded iPad. Presumably, the A6X CPU is similar to the A6 in the just released iPhone 5, but additional GPU power to run the larger Retina display. Also worth noting the WiFi performance increase, which has been one of the selling points of Amazon's new Kindle Fire HD. Apple iPad
