IDG World Expo has announced that Macworld San Francisco attracted 90,473 attendees and "more than" 330 exhibiting companies. This year's attendance is up slightly from the 88,000 counted at the turnstiles in San Francisco '02. A number of Macworld professionals (ie slackers with websites) noted that although the show seemed to get off to a slow start, attendance seemed to noticeably pick up as the event moved into to its second, third and fourth days. In fact, a number show-floor vendors, including OWC reported that their sales at this year's event were well above their totals for MWNY. As IGM reported in late July '02, Macworld New York attracted over 58,000. Editor's note: It's good that attendance was up. It's good that the vendors did well. It's bad that Apple single-handedly "canceled" Macworld Tokyo. Japanese Mac fans really deserve their own show. Nevertheless, I have to say that despite much pre-show angst, his Steveness did deliver at least "one show's worth" of announcements and that I'm waiting anxiously for hardware updates very, very soon (say it with me: 333 FSB, 333 FSB, 333 FSB...)
